Boot Camp is a training course that provides the basics of outreach training while combining chess and military preparation to civilians who want to join the P.A.W.N.S.

  1. state ID card

  • self paced

  • speed limit = you decide

Textbook

  • Battlefield Manual (BM)

  • annually revised

Assignments

  1. study chapter information

  2. submit chapter essay

  3. schedule chapter test

Essays

  1. review topic

  2. brainstorm

  3. create outline

  4. type essay

  5. proofread

  6. export as PDF

  7. submit PDF via email

Essay Grading

  • two letter grader: P or F

  • P = Pass (88+ points)

  • F = Fail (87 points or less)

  1. 20 - topic paragraph

  2. 60 - three (3) support paragraphs

  3. 20 - conclusion paragraph

deductions made for lack of content, grammar, spelling and punctuation mistakes 

Chapter Tests

  • scheduled

  • can be retaken

Test Grading

  • two letter grades: P or F


    P = Pass (88+ points)
    F = Fail (87 points or less)

Test Policy

  • Don’t give, receive or use any help from others.

  • Don’t look at or copy another persons test.

  • Don’t have someone take a test for you.

Final Exam

  • field exercise

  • real people, no actors

  • unplanned, not staged

Exam Grading

  • three letter grades: P or F or N

  • P = Pass - Successful in completing exercise

  • F = Fail - Unsuccessful in completing exercise

  • N = exercise Not observed

  • Must Pass 88% of the observed exercises to Pass the Final Exam

Graduation

  • for civilians who pass

  • it'll be the same for everyone

  • it'll be different for everyone

  • it will be special

  • it will be a surprise
